Emily and Jason were married and had their reception at the lovely Hotel Baker in St. Charles, Illinois. When I showed up on their wedding day, I met with Emily first to take some getting ready photos and her portraits. Soon after, I met up with Jason to photograph him with the guys. I noticed how they both seemed so relaxed and enjoying their time with the bridal party before the ceremony. Maybe they would say they felt otherwise as most brides and grooms are excited to see each other before a first look or ceremony, but they seemed really comfortable with me and in front of the camera. Since we had already photographed their engagement session, they already had a good idea of how I shoot. I always think that’s an added bonus. So it’s all high fives when I show up- well not fives but close:) We just chat while I take the portraits. I love that.
They had a sweet little ceremony overlooking the Fox River, followed by cocktails in the Rose Garden, and then we were off to the reception held in the Rainbow Room. It’s such a unique venue. I had never photographed there before and I love shooting in new locations. It’s an intimate space with two levels. Plus, I was really into that floor that lights up for dancing. How fun, right?
