It’s been nearly a year since I traveled to meet Renee and Prab and their lovely family and friends to photograph this Paris destination wedding. I find it hard to explain in words the experience of traveling as a photographer to a destination and spending a lot of time with a small group of people photographing them. It’s a meaningful experience and I’m honored to be trusted to document it all. I want to thank Renee and Prab and everyone there for being open to me as a photographer (and at very close range at times:) There’s a bit of a collaboration for these photos to happen. I wanted these images to feel like those few days felt for them.
I also want to thank Steve Koo for shooting this Paris destination wedding with me. He is my studio mate, talented photographer, and great friend. Occasionally, we shoot destination weddings together. Our photos compliment each other and it was so nice to have a partner to work with in Paris helping to both document and carry gear on a fast paced wedding day. So a sincere thank you Steve!
I have picked several images for this two-part post since we shot the day before the wedding as well. Generally, when I document smaller destination weddings, I like to spend the day or evening before shooting with the couple and their family and friends. It helps explore those relationships and to get everyone used to me being around.
This is day one. Renee left her hotel and met her mom and sister at the flower market to get florals for her bouquet that they would make that night. Then we all had lunch together before boarding a boat tour that took us down the Seine. We started with a few clouds and sunshine that transitioned into wind and rain.. it felt very Paris. Here are some of my favorites from the first day of this Paris destination wedding.
Hotel- Astor Saint Honore
Market- Marché Aux Fleurs
Restaurant and Tour- Le Bistro Parisien
