Hello and thanks so much for visiting my site! I’m Angela Renée, a wedding and portrait photographer in Chicago, Illinois. Here’s my getting to know a little bit about me page.

10 things about me outside of photography

1. I have an ah-mazing husband, a baby girl that makes me laugh every day, and a piano playing kitty.
2. I have three art degrees. A BA, an MA, and an MFA. I was in school for a reeeeally long time:)
3. I like sweets a lot. If you give me chocolate, we will definitely be friends.
4. I was raised in Oklahoma and sometimes I miss its red fields.
5. I read mostly non-fiction because I’m fascinated by people.
6. I don’t like the winter. I just like to wear cute boots.
7. I once lived in Rome, Italy and Zacatecas, Mexico.
8. I like to talk tech stuff. I’m nerdy like that.
9. I want to be (WILL be) a runner someday.
10. I am newly obsessed with Pinterest.

10 things about me + photography

1. I came to photography through moving image. I made videos before I made stills. I just say that I’m lens based.
2. I once photographed my family opening Christmas presents with a bounced flash (true story).
3. I actively challenge myself to try something new every time I photograph a session or event.
4. I love photographing weddings because I get to make art for couples and their families.
5. I am working on a series of photos about Oklahoma that I’ll finish someday.
6. I believe in loosely directing people rather than “posing” them.
7. I still shoot with my dad’s Canon film camera from the 70s.
8. I sometimes teach photography as an adjunct professor.
9. I rarely make photographs that don’t have people.
10. I feel very lucky to do what I love.
